Ricci is the fourth son born of Sarah Murdoch and Ralph Ricci of Santa Monica in California was their youngest. In the 1960s, her mother worked as a Ford Agency Model. She later became an agent of real estate. Her father worked as an attorney, and she was an obnoxious-scream therapist. Ricci said that she was Italian because of her father's name. Over the course of four to five generations, an Italian man and woman married Irish women. They had all their sons. There were more children born, and more Irish wives were married. Ricci was able to move from Italy to Montclair from Italy with her family. The school she attended was Edgemont Elementary School as well as Glenfield Middle School, Montclair High School, Montclair High School, Morristown-Beard School, as well as Montclair High School.
