Maureen FitzSimons's achievements as a child performer in America (which we call Maureen O'Hara today) would certainly put her in the child-prodigy class. A child of Irish roots, surrounded as she was by gifted parents, and her family did this naturally. Maureen was born in Ranelagh - a suburb of Dublin the capital of Ireland on the 17th of August 1920. Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons was her mom. She was a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based firm and also owned a stake of "The Shamrock Rovers," an eminent Irish soccer squad. Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out this wonderful family. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as an infant and was extremely adept at them. This interest was combined with a natural talent for performance. As evidenced by winning pretty much every Feis award for drama or theatrical performing her country offered. At the age of 14, she was invited to the highly acclaimed Abbey Theater and pursued her dream of classical theater and operatic singing.
